Part 1: Who Jesus Is
What If You're Not Sure?
If you've read this far and you're thinking:
"I'm not sure I've been born again. I went to church. I prayed a prayer as a kid. I believe in God. But… I don't love Jesus the way this describes. I don't fight sin. I don't love believers. I'm not bearing fruit."
Then hear this:
You might be a cultural Christian who's never actually been converted.
That's terrifying — but it's also an opportunity.
You can be born again today.
How to Be Born Again
Remember: You can't make yourself be born again. Only God can regenerate you. But God commands you to repent and believe.
Here's what to do:
1. Acknowledge Your Sin
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
— Romans 3:23 (NET)
"For the payoff of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
— Romans 6:23 (NET)
You're a sinner. Not just imperfect. Not just flawed. A rebel against God who deserves His judgment.
Say it: "God, I'm a sinner. I've rebelled against You. I deserve hell."
2. Believe the Gospel
The gospel (good news):
Christ died for sinners. He took the penalty you deserve. God's wrath that should have fallen on you fell on Jesus instead.
"But God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
— Romans 5:8 (NET)
Christ rose from the dead. Death couldn't hold Him. He conquered sin, death, and the Adversary.
"For I passed on to you as of first importance what I also received — that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day according to the scriptures."
— 1 Corinthians 15:3–4 (NET)
Believe this. Not just "I think it's probably true." Stake your life on it.
3. Repent
Turn from your sin. Not "I'll try to do better." Turn. Change direction.
"Therefore repent and turn back so that your sins may be wiped out."
— Acts 3:19 (NET)
Say it: "God, I turn from my sin. I'm done running from You. I'm coming home."
4. Trust in Christ Alone
Not Christ + your good works. Not Christ + your church attendance. Not Christ + your morality. Christ. Alone.
"Because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
— Romans 10:9 (NET)
Say it: "Jesus, I trust You alone to save me. I can't save myself. You're my only hope."
5. Submit to Him as Lord
Salvation isn't just forgiveness. It's transfer of ownership.
You were owned by sin. Now you're owned by Christ. He's Lord. He rules. You obey.
Romans 10:9 calls Jesus "Lord," not just Savior.
Say it: "Jesus, You're Lord. I submit my life to You. I'll follow You wherever You lead."
