Part 8: Engaging the World
Chapter 3: Abortion — Calling Child Sacrifice What It Is (1 of 2)
The nurse at the pregnancy center watches the ultrasound screen as the mother sees her baby for the first time. Tiny heartbeat. Fully formed at ten weeks. The mother starts to cry. "They told me it was just a clump of cells."
Your daughter comes home from health class and mentions they learned about "reproductive rights." You scroll past another celebrity celebrating her abortion, calling it "healthcare."
You're watching the normalization of child sacrifice, repackaged in the language of rights, healthcare, and empowerment. And if calling it "child sacrifice" sounds extreme, consider this: how else would you describe killing your own offspring to maintain your lifestyle?
Because here's the reality: abortion kills a human being made in God's image. Everything else is euphemism designed to anesthetize your conscience.
God's Design: Life Is Sacred
Life Begins at Conception
The source document quotes Psalm 139:13–14 and Jeremiah 1:5 together. The NET renders Psalm 139:13–14: "Certainly you made my mind and heart; you wove me together in my mother's womb. I will give you thanks because your deeds are awesome and amazing." And Jeremiah 1:5: "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I set you apart."
God doesn't begin forming you at birth. He forms you in the womb. He knows you before conception. He writes your days in His book before you draw breath. The unborn child is a person, not potential. Abortion doesn't prevent life; it ends life. At conception, a unique human being comes into existence with distinct DNA different from mother and father, with a soul created by God, and with a destiny planned by God. Scientifically: life begins at conception — this isn't debatable among embryologists. At fertilization, you have a distinct, living, human organism. Biblically: God forms you in the womb. John the Baptist leaped in Elizabeth's womb when Mary (pregnant with Jesus) approached — recognizing Jesus while both were still unborn (Luke 1:41). The unborn are people. Abortion is killing people. Everything else is semantic gymnastics.
Murder Is Sin
"You shall not murder" (Exodus 20:13, NET). "Whoever sheds human blood, by human beings his blood will be shed; for in God's image God has made humankind" (Genesis 9:6). Murder is prohibited because humans are made in God's image. To kill an image-bearer is to attack God Himself. This includes the unborn.
Children Are a Blessing
Abortion says: "This gift is a curse. This blessing is a burden. I reject what God has given." That's not just wrong. It's rebellion.
The Enemy's Strategy: Normalizing Child Sacrifice
Step 1: Dehumanize the unborn ("clump of cells"). The language matters. If you can convince people the unborn aren't human, you can justify killing them. "Products of conception," "fetal tissue," "clumps of cells" — anything except "baby." Planned Parenthood's former president said they trained staff never to use the word "baby." But words don't change reality. At six weeks there's a heartbeat. At eight weeks, brain waves. At ten weeks, fingerprints. At twelve weeks, it feels pain. "Clump of cells" is a lie told by people with blood on their hands.
Step 2: Make it about women's bodies ("My body, my choice"). Brilliant misdirection. Because the baby's body isn't your body. The unborn child has different DNA, different blood type (often), different gender (half the time), different fingerprints, and a different heartbeat. Abortion doesn't just affect your body. It ends someone else's.
Step 3: Call it healthcare ("reproductive rights"). Healthcare restores function. Pregnancy isn't a disease — it's the reproductive system functioning perfectly. "Reproductive healthcare" is Orwellian. Reproduction is creating life. Abortion is ending it. They're opposites.
Step 4: Normalize it ("1 in 4 women"). The statistic is designed to destigmatize. And it's true — millions of women have had abortions. Many were lied to, pressured, desperate. Many deeply regret it. But the frequency of sin doesn't make it less sinful. Adultery is common. Theft is common. Normalizing evil doesn't make it less evil. It reveals how far we've fallen.
Step 5: Silence dissenters ("bigot," "anti-woman," "forced birth"). If you oppose abortion, you'll be called anti-woman, misogynist, religious extremist. The goal: make you shut up. Don't. Calling you names doesn't change the fact that abortion kills children. The children being killed don't have a voice. You do. Use it.
Your Response: Speaking for the Voiceless
1. Call it what it is. Stop softening the language. Abortion is killing. The unborn are children. This is child sacrifice.
Deliver those being taken away to death, and hold back those slipping to the slaughter. If you say, "But we did not know about this," does not the one who evaluates hearts consider? Does not the one who guards your life know?
