Conclusion: The Goal of Sanctification
The Paralysis Problem
Most Christians know what they should do. The problem isn't knowledge — it's paralysis.
The Rapture Excuse. Pre-tribulation rapture theology has produced a generation of passive Christians waiting for rescue instead of working for the kingdom. "Why fight for my children's schools if I won't be here?" "Why build institutions if it's all going to burn anyway?" This is disobedience dressed as faith. Jesus didn't say "wait until I come." He said "occupy until I come" (Luke 19:13). The servant who buried his talent was condemned. The servants who invested theirs were commended. Don't bury your talent waiting for evacuation. Invest it in kingdom work.
The Political Idolatry Excuse. "If we just win the next election, everything will be fine." No, it won't. Politics matters — vote biblically, advocate for justice. But the kingdom advances through changed hearts, not legislation. If you're more passionate about your political party than about making disciples, you've made politics an idol. Repent. Return to the mission.
The Overwhelm Excuse. "This handbook is too much. I can't do all of it." Correct. You can't. You're not supposed to. This handbook is comprehensive so you can see the full picture of discipleship. But you don't implement all of it at once. You start somewhere. You build slowly. You grow over time. Don't let perfect be the enemy of good.
The Answer: Occupy Till He Comes
Do business with these until I come back.
— Luke 19:13 (NET)
The Greek word is pragmateuomai — "to be engaged in business, to trade, to work." Not "hide till I come." Not "wait passively till I come." Not "retreat into Christian bubbles till I come." OCCUPY till I come.
Engage the culture — don't retreat from it. Speak truth into the gender madness. Protect your children. Build godly families. Serve in your community. Run for school board. Write letters. Vote. Advocate. Be present in the battle.
Work for the kingdom — don't passively wait. Make disciples. Plant churches. Start ministries. Use your gifts. Invest your talents. Do something eternal with your one life.
Fight spiritually — not physically. Your enemies are not people; they're the spiritual forces deceiving people. Put on the armor. Pray without ceasing. Speak truth in love. Rescue the enslaved. Wage war with the weapons God gave you.
Exercise Christ's authority — don't just defend, go on offense. Pray for the sick. Minister deliverance to the captive. Enforce the victory Christ won at the cross. The Emancipation Proclamation has been signed — now march into occupied territory and declare freedom.
Build faithfully — stone by stone, seed by seed, disciple by disciple. You won't see the finished cathedral. But you'll hear "well done, faithful servant."
Jesus is coming back. Maybe today. Maybe a thousand years from now.
Either way: occupy till He comes.
Blessed is that slave whom the master finds at work when he comes.
— Matthew 24:46 (NET)
