Part Three: The Six Lies Currently Deployed

Chapter 8: "Trump Is the Antichrist" (Or: "Trump Will Save Us") (2 of 2)

In both cases, one lens dominates and the other is suppressed. The person reading mainstream left-wing sources never hears Lens B. The person reading mainstream right-wing sources never hears Lens B. Both sides have selected which lens to apply.

Performance Audience Flag (PIT v4.6)

Trump's statement "Praise be to Allah" directed at Iranian Shia leadership. Multiple audiences receiving different signals: (1) American voters on the left interpret it as mocking religion; (2) American voters on the right interpret it as strategic signal to Iranian leadership; (3) Iranian leadership interprets it as diplomatic acknowledgment; (4) The evangelical right interprets it as either confusion or strategic communication. Four audiences, four different readings of one statement. The performance audience dimension reveals complexity that neither left nor right narrative acknowledges.

The Truth

Scripture's definition: Antichrist is a spirit of opposition to Christ, already present, operating through human power structures, plural not singular, present tense not future.

The question "Is Trump the Antichrist?" is the wrong question entirely. The right question is: "Where is the antichrist spirit operating?"

Answer: The antichrist spirit is operating in the left's obsession with defeating Trump. It is operating in the right's obsession with using Trump. It is operating whenever human political power is positioned as the solution to spiritual problems. It is operating whenever Christians are pulled away from relational presence with God toward tribal alignment with political positions.

The disciples asked Jesus about restoring Israel's kingdom. Jesus said: "It is not for you to know the times or dates. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses." The kingdom work is through witness. The power is the Spirit's. The method is relational presence, not political victory.

The Discernment Test

The Peace Test

Does this political position produce the peace that transcends understanding, or does it produce tribal anxiety?

The Christ Test

Does this magnify Christ, or does it magnify the political figure? Does it call me toward relational encounter with God, or toward political alignment?

The Fruit Test

Over time, has this political engagement produced love, or has it produced division? Has it produced unity with other believers, or has it created tribal distance from those who disagree?

The Abiding Test

Am I spending more time thinking about political victory or political defense than I am spending in relational presence with God? Which voice have I been listening to more—the political voices or the voice of the one who said "my kingdom is not of this world"?

The Rescue Posture

You will meet someone locked in either left-side political hysteria or right-side political hope. They are consumed. One side says "he is a threat to everything." The other side says "he is our last hope." Both sides are spending all their energy on the political battle.

The rescue is not to win the political argument. It is to help them see above the left/right binary. To help them recognize that both sides are pulling them away from the actual work.

"The question 'Is Trump the Antichrist?' is the wrong question. The right question is: are you abiding? Because while you've been calculating eschatological match patterns or defending cultural restoration, you've missed the actual work. The actual work is relational. The actual work is witness. The actual work is becoming the first responder to people around you who are hearing lies. Neither political tribe is doing that work. Only believers living in the presence of God are doing that work."

The goal is not to make them political. The goal is to help them see that politics is not the arena where the actual battle is being fought. The actual battle is for the human heart—for relational presence with God or relational absence from God. The apparatus wins every time it pulls you into political tribalism instead of spiritual abiding.
