Breaking Satan's Lies
PROLOGUE: We Are Not Waiting—We Are Living
The corrective arrives quietly. Not as argument, not as rebuke, but as clarification of what was already true.
"Yearning for eternity" was the phrase. It settled into the mind as accurate—the posture of the believer reaching toward what was not yet, waiting for the promise, oriented toward a destination that remained future. Spiritual maturity looked like patient anticipation. The long obedience. The postponed hope.
Then the correction: we are not yearning for eternity. We are living in it. Right now. This moment. John 17:3 is present tense, not future conditional.
The distinction is not semantic. It is structural.
If eternity is something we are yearning toward, then the present becomes preparation. The present becomes waiting. The present becomes a staging ground for a future that has not yet arrived. We are in holding patterns, practicing disciplines that matter elsewhere, performing faithfulness until the real life begins.
But if we are living in eternity now—if "eternal life" is present-tense relational knowing of the Father and the Son—then everything shifts. The present is not preparation for something real. The present is the real thing. John 17:3 — "Now this is eternal life—that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you sent." (NET)
Not future life. Present life. The operative word is now.
The simplification that comes from this is almost violent in its clarity. We are not building toward something. We are building something. Right now. In the ordinary moments. In the conversations. In the choices. In the willingness to remain present and aware of God when the world is loud and the Adversary is deploying deception at scale.
The tasks before us are simple. Extraordinarily simple. Devastatingly simple.
Know God. Abide in Christ. Let the Holy Spirit use you for His present kingdom purposes. That is the work. Not calculation of what is coming. Not preparation for future crisis. Present faithfulness. Present knowing. Present abiding.
And then—from that abiding—become the rescue.
The people around you are hearing lies. Real lies. Operating lies. Lies that are designed by an ancient intelligence to pull them away from relational encounter with the God who made them. You will meet them where they are, hearing what they are hearing, believing what the apparatus has told them to believe.
You will not out-argue them. You will not win a theological debate. You will offer them something the apparatus cannot replicate.
You will offer them presence. You will offer them the voice of the one who is actually real. You will help them recognize what it sounds like when someone knows the Father and the Son in actual, present-tense encounter. Not theoretically. Actually.
That is the first responder posture. Not waiting to be rescued. Arriving before rescue comes—equipped, present, ready to help someone recognize the voice of truth when they have been hearing deception.
We are living in eternity now. The simple tasks are in front of us. The voice we need to recognize is the voice we should have been practicing all along.
When the world shakes—and it will shake—the ones who will recognize truth will not be the ones with the most correct theology about what is shaking. They will be the ones who have been abiding long enough that they recognize the voice of the one who is not shaken.
That is what this book equips you to be.
