Breaking Satan's Lies

APPENDIX B: Surrender Practice (Step-by-Step)

The Spirit is already present in you. His presence is not conditional on your surrender. What is conditional on your surrender is His effectiveness—His power moving through you to break the carnal appeal and establish relational presence with God. This is not about earning His favor. This is about opening the channel through which His power flows.

Surrender is not passive. It is not resignation. It is active alignment of your will with His will. It happens moment by moment, not once at conversion. Here is how to practice it when the carnal appeal is working:

STEP 1: Notice the momentum.

Stop. Name what you feel. Not the narrative around it—the physical reality. Tightness in your chest? Acceleration in your thoughts? A pull toward action? That is the signal. Don't judge it. Just notice it.

STEP 2: Acknowledge the appeal.

This is the Adversary working through my flesh. This is what the carnal appeal looks like in my body right now. Not shame. Not self-hatred. Just clarity. The flesh is not you. It is the instrument the Adversary uses. Name it.

STEP 3: Release the outcome.

Whatever you were trying to control or protect or achieve in that carnal impulse—consciously release it. Say it aloud if you can: I am not bearing this outcome. Not by my strength. You then turn that outcome over to God. Not as resignation. As trust.

STEP 4: Yield to His will.

Ask Him: What does relational presence with you look like right now? In this moment? Not next week. Not in the crisis. Now. And then wait. Stay present. The Spirit's answer is always toward abiding, toward the vine, toward John 15.

Repeat this practice. Daily. Multiple times if necessary. This is how you train yourself to recognize the difference between the carnal appeal and the Spirit's presence. This is how His effectiveness becomes manifest in your life.
