Part Five: The Nature of God

Section 25 — Grace vs. Scales: The Salvation Problem Islam Cannot Solve

The Islamic system: deeds weighed on scales, God's mercy applied sovereignly, outcome unknown. Problems: (1) Certainty is impossible even for Muhammad. (2) The deepest sins — pride, self-orientation of the heart — are not visible actions addressed by the scale system. (3) The threshold is unspecified. (4) Mercy is arbitrary.

The Christian system: salvation is received, not earned. Christ's righteousness is credited to the believer by faith. The result is not arrogance but profound gratitude and security.

"For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so that no one can boast." — Ephesians 2:8–9 (NET)

✖ Muslim Response: Salvation by faith alone encourages laziness and sin.

✔ How to respond: A person who genuinely understands what it cost God to forgive them — the cross, the suffering, the death of His own Son — does not respond with great, now I can sin more. They respond with love. The Fruit of the Spirit is not generated by fear of the scales. It is the natural overflow of a life that has been met by grace. Root determines fruit.
