Part Seven: The Royal Family Project
Cosmic Vocation, Present-Tense Walk
The staggering destiny described in this part means nothing if it is not grounded in the staggering ordinary. Governing angels in the future begins with what Micah 6:8 calls the requirement for now: do justice, love kindness, walk humbly with your God.
The sons of God who fell were charged with exactly this — just governance of the nations, care for the poor and orphaned, protection of the weak. Psalm 82:3-4 reads: "Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked." They failed that charge. They showed partiality to the powerful. The cosmic consequence of that failure is still playing out.
The children who inherit what they forfeited do not begin their preparation for cosmic governance somewhere in the future. They begin it here, in the neighborhood where they live, in the family they have been given, in the political moment they inhabit, in the suffering they are willing to accept because they know what it is for. Romans 8:17 does not separate glory from suffering. It joins them: "co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory." The path to the throne runs directly through the place where you carry what you would rather put down.
This is not inspirational language. This is the operational manual for the governance vocation: you learn to rule in the new creation by refusing to dominate in this one. You learn to judge rightly by absorbing injustice without becoming unjust. The cross is not merely the means of forgiveness. It is the template of governance in a universe where the King himself demonstrated what faithful stewardship of power looks like.
