Appendix a
Section 4 — Genesis 6 and the Watchers
Genesis 6:1-4 TIER 1 — SCRIPTURE
"...the sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose... The Nephilim were on the earth in those days."
ESTABLISHES:
Sons of God (bene Elohim) crossed a boundary between categories of being, took human wives, and produced Nephilim. The boundary violation is established. The mechanism is not specified.
⚠ OVERREACH:
The text establishes the event and its category. It does not provide biological detail. Mapping CRISPR onto this passage is a Tier 3 structural observation, not an exegetical conclusion.
Jude 6-7, 14-15 TIER 1 — SCRIPTURE
"[The angels] who did not keep within their proper domain but abandoned their own place of residence, he has kept in eternal chains in utter darkness..." (Jude 6, NET); "Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about them." (Jude 14, NET)
ESTABLISHES:
The NT confirms the angelic interpretation of Genesis 6. Jude quotes 1 Enoch directly as genuine prophecy, giving the tradition prophetic standing without granting it canonical authority.
Matthew 24:37-39 TIER 1 — SCRIPTURE
"As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man."
ESTABLISHES:
The end times will structurally replicate Noah's time. Jesus affirms the days of Noah as historical reality with prophetic significance.
LEAVES OPEN:
Whether the structural replication includes the Genesis 6 phenomenon specifically or refers primarily to moral and spiritual conditions. Both may be in view.
Section 5 — The Destiny of the Redeemed
1 Corinthians 6:2-3 TIER 1 — SCRIPTURE
""Do you not know that the Lord's people will judge the world?... Do you not know that we will judge angels?""
ESTABLISHES:
The redeemed will exercise judicial authority over the world and over angels. Paul uses this as an assumed baseline — settled theology, not speculation. The most direct statement in Scripture of the image bearer's ultimate cosmic destiny.
Romans 8:19-23 TIER 1 — SCRIPTURE
"The creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed... the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth."
ESTABLISHES:
Creation is not abandoned — it is groaning and waiting to be liberated alongside the image bearers. The groaning is real. The liberation is coming.
LEAVES OPEN:
The precise relationship between pre-human physical death/entropy and the groaning described here. Addressed in Appendix B, Topic 4.
