Revision History
Revision 26
Revision 26 responds to a full audit of Revision 25 by three separate passes: a quotation-and-claim audit run against the project's hallucination guard, a methodological-skeptic read of the whole manuscript, and a peer review by one reader from each of the three views (dispensational, partial preterist, full preterist). About 290 findings came back; each was weighed on its merits, and roughly three hundred and seventy-five edits followed. The largest group is corrections of fact. Scripture quotations labeled NET that carried another translation's wording (1 John 2:27, Revelation 1:3, John 17:24, 1 Thessalonians 4:17, and many more) were rewritten to the NET wording as retrieved from published NET text online; a handful of those whose punctuation could not be confirmed were shortened or paraphrased instead of quoted. Several full-preterist replies had been placed after AD 70; they now sit before it, where those writers put them. Thomas is now "invited to touch," not recorded as touching (John 20:27); Augustine is called amillennial and dated to the early fifth century, and the origin stories of the three views are told with the same care; the backward pointers that promised arguments the book never made (Part Seven's fourteen-verse list, two Appendix entries) were repaired; and the Appendix titles and descriptions were brought into line with the project's own reader guide. The second group is balance. Neutral passages that had asserted a view's conclusion, such as the return of Christ as already future before the views were compared, now state what each view says; verdict language in Part Six was removed; short additions give the dispensational case its binding-of-Satan, Olivet, and separate-judgments arguments and give the full-preterist case its time-statements and Old Testament resurrection arguments; and the Max King paragraphs were made to say the same thing, with the deliberate exception left standing. The third group is claims that could not be backed: an unverified historian's quotation, a Josephus dating, and several statements that the text had been "checked carefully" were softened or removed. Larger requests were not implemented here because they change the structure of the book and are the author's to decide: a Daniel 9 and 2 Thessalonians 2 section, a named-advocates reading list, a creeds subsection, a "what is at stake" section, and whether the author's own lean should be stated once in the front matter. Soli Deo Gloria.
