Coming Home to the Family God Always Wanted

Before anything existed, before God spoke the universe into being, before there was light or darkness or time itself, there was a longing in the heart of God.

God wanted a family.

Not servants who would obey from a distance. Not subjects who would honor Him from far away. God wanted something far more intimate and far more real: He wanted children. He wanted relational union. He wanted to press His face into theirs, breathe His life into their lungs, and call them His own.

This wasn't something God decided after the world went wrong. This wasn't Plan B after Plan A failed. This was the plan from the very beginning. This was why God created at all.

And there's something you need to understand about why this matters so much: the way God created you is different from the way He created everything else.

Why You're Different

When God created the higher beings — the powerful spiritual creatures the Bible calls the sons of God — He spoke them into existence. "Let there be..." and they came into being. Beautiful. Powerful. Real. But spoken into existence.

But you — you're different.

The Bible says God formed you with His own hands.[2] Not spoken into being. Formed. Shaped. Like a potter works with clay, like an artist works with their material. God took time with you. God was intentional about you.

And then it says something almost too intimate to believe: God pressed His face into yours and breathed His own life into your lungs.[2]

Think about that. That's not the language of commanding a servant or ruling a subject. That's the language of a Father with His child. That's the language of intimacy. Of closeness. Of a God who wanted you so badly that He didn't just speak you into existence — He formed you with His own hands and breathed His own breath into you.

You are made in the image of God.[1] Not because you look like Him physically, though you might in some way we don't fully understand. But because you're designed for relational union with Him in a way no other creature is. You're designed to know Him. To be known by Him. To experience His love not as a distant blessing but as the intimate reality of your existence.

This is who you are. This is what you were created for. From before time, you were designed for family with God.
