Chapter 12

Walking in the Day — What Children of Light Actually Do (2 of 2)

Midday: When conflict comes — and it will, because you live in a world where the "gods" of Psalm 82 still corrupt justice — you apply 1 Corinthians 6. Can you judge this small matter rightly? Can you resolve it without suing, without slander, without drunken outrage? If yes, you are practicing for the day you will judge angels. If no, you repent, put the breastplate back on, and try again.

Evening: When darkness feels heavy, you do not turn on a podcast about the Nephilim to feel powerful. You sing. Ephesians 5:18-19: "be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit." Remember Chapter 10 — the morning stars sang at creation. You are learning their original job. Song is not escapism. It is warfare by light.

Night: You sleep. Psalm 127:2: "he grants sleep to those he loves." Children of darkness are drunk at night (1 Thess 5:7). Children of light rest, because they know the One who never sleeps is awake for them.

Why Angels Still Matter

This daily walk does not make angels obsolete. It puts them in their proper place.

Hebrews 1:14 says they serve you. How? Not by giving you new revelation — you have the Spirit for that. They serve by:

  • Protecting your body while you sleep (Ps 91:11)
  • Opening doors you cannot open (Acts 12:7)
  • Strengthening you in moments of weakness (Luke 22:43)
  • Carrying out judgments you are not authorized to carry out (Rev 8)

You do not command them. You thank God for them, the way you thank God for traffic lights — they are part of the infrastructure of a world still governed, in part, by the council, until the Day.

KEY IDEA: The child of light does not obsess over angels. The child of light is so occupied with the Light that angels can do their job without distraction.

The Final Synthesis

Let us bring the whole arc together for your reader:

  1. You are a son of God — not by nature, but by adoption through the Spirit (Rom 8:15). This is your status.
  2. You are becoming a child of light — not by initiation, but by walking in the day, awake and sober (1 Thess 5:5). This is your state.
  3. You will judge angels — not now, not by your authority, but then, with Christ, by approbation (1 Cor 6:3). This is your destiny.
  4. You will sing with the morning stars — not as a replacement, but as a redeemed human who has the Morning Star in your heart (Rev 2:28, 22:16). This is your vocation.

The thread through all four is the Holy Spirit. Without Him, sonship is legal fiction, light is moralism, judgment is power-grabbing, and song is performance. With Him, sonship is real, light is natural, judgment is just, and song is spontaneous.

This is why these volumes work together. The Sons of God gives the cosmic backstory. This volume gives the daily walk. Without the walk, the backstory becomes mythology. Without the backstory, the walk becomes moralism. Together, they become what Paul prayed for in Ephesians 1:18 — "the eyes of your heart enlightened, that you may know the hope to which he has called you."

The Definition Beneath the Walk

The walk of a child of light is not a new project added to your spiritual life. It is the present-tense experience of what Jesus defines as eternal life: "Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent" (John 17:3). Eternal life is not what begins after death. It is the quality of knowing that is already available to the branch that stays on the vine. Walking as a child of light means living now in the relational knowing that is already yours through the Spirit who was given — not accumulating knowledge about God, but remaining in the knowing that is itself eternal life.

The sons of God who fell were not ignorant. They were present at the earth's foundations, older than the earth itself, filled with knowledge and capability the entirety of human civilization has not matched. What they lacked was not information. They lacked the knowing that John 17:3 defines — not council membership, not cosmic position, but the relational knowing of the Father through the Son, which is only available to those who receive it as children and carry it as the permanently poor in spirit.

Walking as a child of light is walking in that knowing. It is abiding in the relationship that is already eternal life. Everything in this volume serves that. If this study has not driven you deeper into John 15, it has missed its mark.

Your mission is to walk in the knowing that is already eternal life. Awake. Sober. Clothed in faith and love and hope. Doing justice, loving kindness, walking humbly with your God. The cosmos is watching. Creation is straining forward. Walk.

A Closing Prayer for the Reader

Do not end this volume with a call to study more. End it with a call to abide more.

Pray this at dawn:

"Father, you made the morning stars to sing at creation. You sent your Son, the bright Morning Star, to sing in the midst of the assembly. You have given me your Spirit, and He has raised the morning star in my heart.

Today I will not seek to command angels. I will receive their service with thanks.

Today I will not seek to calculate Jubilees. I will walk as a child of the day.

Today I will not seek to become a god. I will become, by grace, more fully human — awake, sober, clothed in faith, love, and hope.

Let my life be a song the darkness cannot silence. Amen."

That is what a child of light does. Not because they understand the divine council perfectly, but because they know the One who sits above it — and He lives in them.
