Vol II: Knowing the King
Part One: The Seal of the King
The “Verily” Statements — The Royal Ratification That Undergirds All of Christ’s Teaching
“This is the solemn pronouncement of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the originator of God’s creation.”
— Revelation 3:14 (NET)
Before a king issues a decree, he seals it. The seal does not create the authority — the king’s authority already exists. But the seal is the visible, irrevocable mark that says: this decree carries the full weight of the throne. It cannot be recalled. It cannot be modified. It will be enforced.
Jesus had a seal. He used it approximately seventy-five times across the four Gospels. You have encountered it throughout your life as a reader of Scripture, probably without recognizing it as the legal instrument it is. The translators rendered it “Truly I tell you” or “Very truly I tell you” in modern translations, or with the older gravitas of the King James: “Verily I say unto you.” Behind every translation is the same Aramaic word Jesus actually spoke, borrowed from Hebrew: Amen.
Part One of this volume does what no single section of Volume I did: it gathers every one of those seventy-five declarations, examines the mechanism of the seal, maps the declarations across their five great themes, and then — critically — shows the disciple exactly how the seal authorizes every category of Jesus’ commands. The commands were given in Volume I. Part One is where the soldier learns to read the orders with the King’s signature still visible at the top of the page.
