They Were Here Before the Earth
Part Two: The Ancient Record
The Watchers Correctly Identified
The beings at the center of the disclosure conversation are not new. They are not from another planet. They are the bene Elohim — the sons of God, the divine council members, the Watchers — and they are described in Scripture with precision that the ancient alien framework neither possesses nor can produce. What follows is the biblical account, read carefully, alongside the archaeological record that confirms its major structural features.
Who the Bene Elohim Are
"Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you possess understanding! Who set its measurements — if you know — or who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its bases set, or who laid its cornerstone — when the morning stars sang in chorus, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?" — Job 38:4-7 (NET)
The morning stars. The sons of God. The bene Elohim. They were already there when the earth was formed. They did not form it. They witnessed its formation and shouted for joy at the sight. They existed before the earth. They are creatures — creatures of God, made before the earth was made, present at its making as observers and worshippers, not as creators.
Psalm 82 presents the divine council in session:
"God stands in the assembly of El; in the midst of the gods he renders judgment." — Psalm 82:1 (NET)
The council members are addressed:
"I thought, 'You are gods; all of you are sons of the Most High.' Yet you will die like mortals; you will fall like all the other rulers." — Psalm 82:6-7 (NET)
They have been given authority. They have misused it. Judgment is pronounced on them.
Deuteronomy 32:8, in the Dead Sea Scrolls reading:
"When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, when he divided up humankind, he set the boundaries of the peoples, according to the number of the sons of God." — Deuteronomy 32:8 (NET, following the DSS)
The nations were assigned to the bene Elohim for governance. Not ownership — governance. Stewardship within appointed boundaries. What followed, documented throughout the Old Testament, is the history of those stewards violating their appointment: Deuteronomy 32:17 records that Israel "sacrificed to demons, not God, to gods they had not known, to new gods who had recently come along." The beings being worshipped through the nations' false gods are real. They are the same council members whose assignment was governance, not worship.
They are not extraterrestrials from another planet. They are pre-terrestrial — created before the earth, assigned to the governance of what was made after them, present throughout human history in a mode of existence Scripture names precisely. The category shift the ancient alien framework performs — from pre-terrestrial spiritual beings to extraterrestrial physical visitors — is the entire error. Everything else follows from it.
