Science and Scripture: A Reference Guide
What This Document Is
This is a reference guide. It has one side. It collects documented evidence that the physical universe, living systems, mathematical structure, and cosmological record point toward a Creator. It cites sources. It stops there.
Reference guides do not argue both sides. A catalog of architectural drawings does not include arguments against the existence of buildings. A field guide to birds does not pause to rehearse the case against ornithology. This guide collects documented evidence bearing on one of the oldest questions in human experience. It does not rehearse the opposing case. That case exists, is accessible, and is not this document's concern. Readers who want it know where to find it.
What this guide does not do is as important as what it does. It does not adjudicate contested scientific interpretations. It does not claim that every scientist cited agrees with the conclusions drawn from his or her work. It does not address the age of the earth—the design argument is timescale-independent, and conflating the two is a category error that serves neither side of either question. It does not claim that general revelation proves the God of Scripture. It presents what general revelation does: accumulates evidence that points toward a door. Part Eight names the door and what it requires.
The guide is organized into eight parts. The first covers biological machinery—molecular systems whose complexity and coordination rule out random accumulation as an explanation. The second covers physical fine-tuning—the constants of the universe calibrated to permit chemistry, stars, and life. The third addresses the cosmological case—the beginning of the universe and what it requires. The fourth is the chemistry wall—what abiogenesis faces and why it fails. The fifth is the privileged planet—the astronomical improbability of Earth's position and configuration. The sixth is mathematics—why abstract structures describe physical reality and what that means. The seventh shows where Scripture anticipated what science later confirmed. The eighth names the door.
Every specific claim carries a primary source, cited in italic immediately after each chapter entry. The appendices collect full bibliographic information and brief profiles of every major figure cited. Use those appendices. Go to the original papers. The evidence does not need this guide's framing to be what it is.
